Job Advert: Care Support Worker - Learning Disabilities, Autism, and Mental Illness

 

Innovations in Care is an award-winning care provider dedicated to supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and mental illness. We are currently seeking compassionate and experienced Care Support Workers to join our team. This role involves providing person-centred support to a client with complex needs, including personal care, promoting independent living, and assisting during behaviours of distress.

 

Role: Care Support Worker

Location: Hull

Employment Type: Full time

Pay: Dependent on qualifications and experience

 

Responsibilities:

- Provide person-centred support to a client with learning disabilities, autism, and mental illness.

- Assist with personal care tasks, ensuring dignity, privacy, and respect.

- Promote independence and enable the client to live as autonomously as possible.

- Support the client in daily activities, including meal preparation, medication management, and household tasks.

- Develop and implement care plans tailored to the client's individual needs and goals.

- Recognise and respond appropriately to behaviours of distress, utilising de-escalation techniques and following established protocols.

- Foster a therapeutic and supportive environment, promoting the client's emotional well-being and social inclusion.

- Document interactions accurately and maintain clear and concise records.

- Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, including healthcare professionals, family members, and other support staff.

- Participate in training and development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and mental illness.

 

Requirements:

- Previous experience working in a care environment is essential.

- Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism is highly desirable.

- Compassionate and empathetic nature, with a genuine interest in supporting individuals with complex needs.

- Ability to provide personal care with sensitivity, respect, and dignity.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships.

- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively within a team.

- Willingness to complete training and development as required.

 

Qualifications:

- No formal qualifications are required; however, relevant certifications or qualifications in health and social care are advantageous. You will be required to complete a Level 2 qualification if you do not already hold one.
