Job Advert: Mental Health Support Worker - Waking Night Shifts

 

Innovations in Care is an award-winning provider of mental health supported living services, committed to empowering individuals and promoting their well-being. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Worker to join our team on waking night shifts. This position involves providing support to a client with complex emotional needs, ensuring their safety, comfort, and emotional well-being throughout the night.

 

Role: Mental Health Worker - Waking Night Shifts

Location: Hull

Employment Type: Full-time/Part-time

Shift Pattern: Waking Night Shifts

 

Responsibilities:

- Provide one-to-one support and companionship to a client with complex emotional needs during waking night shifts.

- Ensure the safety and security of the client, maintaining a vigilant and supportive presence throughout the night.

- Demonstrate a compassionate and empathetic approach, fostering a therapeutic environment that promotes trust, dignity, and respect.

- Implement and adhere to the individual's care plan, following established protocols and guidelines.

- Monitor and respond appropriately to any changes in the client's emotional state or behaviour, reporting concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

- Document observations and incidents accurately and promptly, maintaining clear and concise records.

- Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, including mental health professionals and other support staff, to ensure continuity and consistency of care.

- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting individuals with complex emotional needs.

 

Requirements:

- Experience working in a mental health or similar support role, preferably with individuals with complex emotional needs.

- Demonstrated understanding of mental health conditions and their impact on individuals' well-being.

- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations, providing a supportive and non-judgmental presence.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships.

- Strong observational skills, with the ability to recognise and respond to changes in emotional states or behaviours.

- Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing high-quality care.

- A compassionate and empathetic approach, with a genuine interest in making a positive difference in the lives of others.

- Flexibility to work waking night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

 

Qualifications:

- A relevant qualification in mental health, social care, psychology, or a related field is desirable but not essential. Relevant experience and a passion for supporting individuals with mental health needs will be considered. Successful applicants will be required to complete a Level 2 qualification if not already held.
